Savings Percentage

Ever wondered how to figure your savings percentage?  Here are simple instructions:

  1. Add together all of the original prices (on receipts that show the $ amount that you saved, add together that savings amount + the $ amount you spent)
  2. Add together your oop (out of pocket)
  3. Subtract oop from original prices = SAVINGS
  4. Divide amount saved by original prices
  5. Move decimal over 2 spots

Examples:

Receipt #1 Spent $5.92Saved $13.80Total original prices – $19.72$13.80 divided by $19.72 = 0.6997Move the decimal over 2 = 69.9 = 70%Receipt #2Spent $1.98Saved $6.52Total original prices – $8.50$6.52 divided by $8.50 = 0.7670Move the decimal over 2 = 76.7 = 77%Savings % of both receipts combined:Spent $7.90Saved $20.32Total original prices – $28.22$20.32 divided by $28.22 = 0.7200Move the decimal over 2 = 72.0 = 72%
